![]() DOROTHY PAULINE DeHOSSE GAVELIC Dorothy Pauline DeHosse Gavelic, 91, of Courtney, died Wednesday, February 8, 2012 in her home. She was born June 12, 1920 in Courtney, the daughter of Alphonse and Frances Leach DeHosse. In her younger years, Dorothy resided in Daisytown with her family. She was a seamstress and enjoyed making clothes for many people in the area. After moving back to Courtney, she sewed mainly for her family and also enjoyed embroidering. She was a member of St. Damien of Molokai Parish, Transfiguration Church in Monongahela. Dorothy loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her family was her life. She is survived by her daughters, Dorothy and husband Gary Luzier of Hopedale, Ohio, Paula Agostoni of New Eagle; grandsons, Erik and Rebecca Agostoni, Brian and wife Katrina Luzier, Bret and wife Amy Agostoni, Christopher Luzier; great grandsons, Ethen, Nolan, Roman and Warren Agostoni; great granddaughter, Kaitlyn Luzier; sisters, Frances and husband Egidio Ferro of Courtney, Sara Buszinski of Bentleyville, Mary Bove and Anna Jean and husband John Gilmore, all of Finleyville; brother, Alphonse DeHosse, Jr. of Bethel Park. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Gavelic who died March 28, 2008. Friends will be received on Friday, February 10, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Frye Funeral Home, Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, February 11, at 10:00 AM in St. Damien of Molokai Parish, Transfiguration Church with the Rev. William Terza, pastor as celebrant. Committal services and interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monongahela. ![]() VIRGINIA MAE "GINNY" BEVERIDGE Virginia Mae "Ginny" Beveridge, 87, of Monongahela, died Saturday, February 4, 2012 at her home with her family by her side when her courageous battle with cancer ended. She was born April 5, 1924 in Pittsburgh, the daughter of William and Martha Murray Lescallett. Ginny married Robert Beveridge, Sr. on September 17, 1960. She was employed at Bartolotta’s, Fisher Heights where she worked in the meat department until her retirement in 1983. She was a longtime member of the First Christian Church in Monongahela where she taught Sunday school. Two years ago she was awarded 50 years of service for being a Christian teacher. She looked forward to going on retreats with the church groups. Ginny was an animal lover and was also known for playing Mrs. Claus at local stores and nursing homes. Survivors include her son, Robert (Darla) Beveridge, Jr. of New Eagle; step daughter, Carol (Denver) Byron of North Charleroi; niece, Laura (David) Watt of Prosperity; nephew, Edward (Sherry) Lescallett of Carlisle; grandchildren, Mark and Jennifer Beveridge, Matthew (Heather) Beveridge, James Wiley, Denver (Dawn) Byron, Christopher Byron, Jayme (Coleman) Zsiros; eight great grandchildren; her pride and joy was her great grandson and namesake, Mason Robert Beveridge; sister-in-law, Betty Pelissero of Monongahela; cousin, Sally Warner of North Hills; great nieces and nephews, Jennifer and Mitchell Lescallett, Stephanie (Dale) Pitulski, Daniel, Bethany, Hannah, Isaiah and Grace Watt; and many other nieces and nephews as well as her extended family. Ginny was truly loved and will be missed by a lot of people. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Beveridge, Sr. who died on December 29, 1980, her first husband, Harold Espey and her brother, Edward Lescallett. Friends will be received on Monday, February 6, from 1-4 and 6-9 PM in the Frye Funeral Home, Inc., 427 West Main Street, Monongahela, where services will be held on Tuesday, February 7, at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, 630 Chess Street, Monongahela, PA 15063. ![]() THE HONORABLE CLYDE G. TEMPEST The Honorable Clyde G. Tempest, 88, of Monongahela, died Sunday, February 5, 2012 in Monongahela Valley Hospital. He was born June 14, 1923 in Monongahela, son of the late Clyde Reuben and Elizabeth Shuttleworth Tempest and was married to the late Hannah Margaret (Peg) Lightner Tempest. Clyde was a 1941 graduate of Monongahela High School and a 1950 graduate of Washington and Jefferson College with a B.A. in Economics. He graduated in 1952 from Dickinson School of Law and was awarded his Juris Doctor in 1968 from Dickinson. He served his country in WWII from 1944 to 1946 as a member of the United States Army. He was a radio repairman and was discharged as a Sergeant from the 87th Division, 345th Inf. Battalion, Headquarters Company that served in France, Germany (Battle of the Bulge), Belgium and Luxemburg. As a private practice attorney, Clyde was admitted to practice before Court of Common Pleas of Washington County, Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania, District Court of the United States for the Western District of Pennsylvania and the United States Supreme Court. He was in private practice from 1953 to 1958, in a partnership with Judge Paul A. Simmons from 1958 to 1971, and in a partnership with Oliver Hormell, Judge Simmons, Herman Bigi and Keith Melenyzer from 1971 to 1973. Clyde returned to private practice from 1973 until 1991. He served for 12 years as the District Justice (Magistrate) for Monongahela, Donora, New Eagle, and Carroll Township from 1970 to 1982. In 1991, Clyde was appointed to the bench as Judge, Court of Common Pleas Washington County, Pennsylvania. Clyde also served as Solicitor for the City of Monongahela, the Borough of Finleyville and for the New Eagle Sewage Authority. Professionally, Clyde was a member and past President of the Washington County Bar Association, member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, American Trial Lawyers Association, Ethics Committee of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and past Chairman and member of the Washington County Attorney’s Board of Review. He was also a member and past President of the Monongahela Chapter of Rotary International and of Lions International. Additionally, he was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars (Judge Advocate) and the American Legion, Board of Directors for Monongahela Country Club, Board of Directors of Pittsburgh National Bank, past President and member of Monongahela Neighborhood Boy’s Club and a member of the B.P.O. Elks. Clyde was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Monongahela, having served as Elder, Trustee and President of Trustees. Survivors include his loving sons, Douglas T. Tempest and wife Susan of Hopewell Junction, N.Y., Donald L. Tempest and wife Susan of Kingsland, GA; grandchildren: Deborah L. Tempest Gordon of Kingsland, GA, Donald L. Tempest Jr. of Green Cove Springs, FL, Jacob R. Tempest of St. Marys, GA, Kelly L. Tempest of Hopewell Junction, N.Y., Daniel T. Tempest of Hopewell Junction, N.Y.; great-grandchildren Samantha D. Crosby, Steven T. (Tye) Crosby, Jessie K. Gordon and Sophia L. Tempest. Clyde was preceded in death by his beloved wife Hannah Margaret (Peg) Lightner Tempest (11/12/01), his eldest son, Clyde LeRoy (Lee) Tempest (7/10/11) and his sister Helen Tempest Tomayko (2/2/08). Friends will be received on Tuesday, Feb. 7, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 W. Main Street, Monongahela. Services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at 11 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church of Monongahela with the Rev. Mark Woomer officiating. Interment will follow in the Monongahela Cemetery with full military honors accorded by the Mon Valley Honor Guard and Firing Squad.
